Kings Mountain

About 40 minutes from Charlotte is a small town with rich history. Kings Mountain is home to a important battle during the Revolutionary War. The battle of Kings Mountain was fought on October 7, 1780.

You can explore the history of the battle at Kings Mountain National Military Park in Blacksburg, SC, which is about 15 minutes away from town or simply take a hike on trails or camp out. In honor of the battle, the park holds a wreath laying ceremony in the morning and a program at the amphitheater later in the afternoon annually on October 7.

Kings Mountain State Park, also located in Blacksburg, SC, provides nature enthusiasts hiking trails, fishing lakes, boating and camping. Canoeing and kayaking are only allowed on Lake York, motorized boats are not.

The famous Crowder’s Mountain State Park is also conveniently 10 minutes away from Kings Mountain. The park offers, camping, hiking, rock climbing, picnicking and water sports for outdoor entertainment!
